A laboratory technician and his paramour were discovered dead in a suspected suicide pact at a rented place in Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh. Initial investigations suggest that family opposition to their relationship may have led to the tragic incident. The exact cause of death is pending confirmation pending post-mortem and forensic analysis.
Saharanpur ASP Manoj Yadav mentioned that upon receiving information about a locked room, they found the situation suspicious and had to break open the door. Forensic experts were called to the scene for a detailed examination. The man, identified as 39-year-old Sam Kamanish, was a laboratory technician at Medigram Hospital, while the woman, 24-year-old Aastha, worked as a teacher at a private college.
According to police reports, the man appeared to have slit his wrist and hung himself partially from a window, while the woman likely consumed a poisonous substance. The two individuals had known each other for about four years, with their relationship evolving from an acquaintance to a romantic involvement. Aastha’s family reportedly disapproved of their bond.
Aastha went missing on her way to college, prompting her family to raise concerns and involve the police. Surveillance footage from the hospital showed the couple leaving together, leading the authorities to their location. Both bodies have undergone post-mortem examinations, with Aastha’s body returned to her family and arrangements being made for Sam’s relatives to claim his body.
Officials are investigating all possible angles to uncover the circumstances surrounding the deaths, awaiting further details from the ongoing investigation and post-mortem results.
