One of the three labourers rescued from a sewer chamber in Ujjain, Madhya Pradesh, has passed away while receiving treatment at a hospital. The remaining two labourers are currently hospitalized and in stable condition. The incident took place during sewerage work near Pipli Naka on the Bhairavgarh road.
Ujjain Superintendent of Police, Pradeep Sharma, confirmed the death of one labourer and explained that the workers fell unconscious inside the sewer chamber due to suffocation. Local residents alerted the authorities upon noticing the trapped workers, leading to a rescue operation conducted by the police and residents. The labourers were promptly taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, one of them did not survive.
Authorities suspect that toxic gases inside the sewer chamber caused the workers to lose consciousness.
