Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) national president and former Bihar Chief Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav was admitted to the Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) in Patna on Friday following a sudden deterioration in his health. He was taken to the hospital after facing complications earlier in the day, where a team of specialized doctors is closely monitoring his condition and providing necessary medical attention.
Accompanied by his wife, former Bihar Chief Minister Rabri Devi, and daughter, Rajya Sabha MP Misa Bharti, Lalu Prasad Yadav underwent an initial clinical assessment upon admission to IGIMS. Given his age and history of health issues, doctors are proceeding with extra caution, conducting diagnostic tests and keeping him under close observation. Despite residing in a new medical facility in Kautilya Nagar, Patna, his unexpected health decline required immediate hospitalization.
The news of Lalu Prasad Yadav’s hospitalization has sparked concern among RJD leaders, party members, and supporters, leading to a gathering of well-wishers outside IGIMS. Security measures have been reinforced around the hospital to manage the increasing crowd. Continuous monitoring of his health condition is ongoing, with updates expected post the completion of medical examinations.
Having undergone a kidney transplant in Singapore in December 2022, with his daughter Rohini Acharya as the donor, Lalu Prasad Yadav has been grappling with kidney-related issues, heart disease, hypertension, and other age-related complications. He is under regular medical supervision and receiving periodic treatment.
