A significant donation drive has arisen in Srinagar and other parts of Jammu and Kashmir to aid Iran, with contributions totaling between Rs 500–600 crore, as per Shia preacher and Majlis Ulama Imamia President Dr. Aga Syed Mudasir Rizvi. Dr. Rizvi commended the community’s generosity, citing it as a display of fundamental human values like sacrifice and altruism.
He praised the unwavering stance of the community in enduring hardships and making sacrifices for what they believe is right, stating that such actions inspire others to join in solidarity. Dr. Rizvi highlighted the inclusive nature of the contributions, mentioning that individuals from various religious backgrounds, including Shia, Sunni, and non-Muslims, have actively participated in the initiative.
Noting the diverse forms of donations received, Dr. Rizvi mentioned that contributions have included cash, gold, vehicles, utensils, and other essential items. Professionals have also made substantial direct transfers to the Iranian embassy, indicating a broad spectrum of support beyond the physical donations.
