A 30-year-old man named Suraj Kumar Rana was brutally murdered in Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, following a late-night dispute among a group of young men on January 1. The incident took place at Indrapuri Chowk, a bustling area in the city where the victim, a tiles and marble mason from Madai Khurd, was attacked.
Eyewitnesses and family members revealed that the altercation began when some youths returning from a picnic got into an argument over music. The situation quickly escalated, leading to Suraj being forcibly taken to a spot near the Red Cross building and assaulted.
The attackers reportedly beat Suraj severely and then dragged him to Lal Kothi Chowk, where he was allegedly struck with a sword, resulting in critical injuries. Local residents, upon hearing the commotion, alerted the police, who promptly took the victim to Sadar Hospital. Unfortunately, doctors pronounced him dead at 11 p.m.
The tragic incident caused fear and outrage in Indrapuri Chowk and nearby regions, prompting a significant crowd to gather at the crime scene and the hospital. Police have cordoned off the area, gathered evidence, and sent the body for a post-mortem examination. Initial investigations suggest that the murder stemmed from a personal dispute, although all possible angles are under thorough scrutiny.
Authorities have detained multiple suspects for interrogation and are conducting raids at suspected hideouts to locate and apprehend the perpetrators. To ensure public safety, additional police forces have been deployed in the vicinity. Suraj Kumar Rana, the victim, was the primary provider for his family, leaving behind a devastated wife and two young children.
