The Lokayukta police in Madhya Pradesh disclosed the arrest of a female RTO constable and her male associate for allegedly accepting bribes from a vehicle owner. The arrest took place on the Jabalpur-Nagpur Highway where they were caught red-handed receiving a bribe of Rs 4,500 under the guise of facilitating the vehicle’s movement.
A complaint was lodged with the Lokayukta by Prashant Dattatray Jadhav Jeevansagar, a vehicle owner from Mumbai, regarding the demand for illicit payments. In response, the Lokayukta team conducted a sting operation leading to the apprehension of the constable, Shweta Ahirwar, and Mohit Sahu while they were in the act of taking the bribe.
The investigation by Lokayukta police substantiated the allegations, confirming the validity of the complaint. Consequently, on March 25, Ahirwar and Sahu were caught red-handed accepting the bribe from the vehicle driver. Legal actions are now being pursued against both individuals for their involvement in the bribery case.
