Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav initiated the ‘Somnath Swabhiman Yatra’ from Bhopal’s Rani Kamalapati Railway Station, commencing a significant pilgrimage for devotees across the state. The Chief Minister conducted a ritual worship of a ‘kalash’ filled with water from 21 major rivers of India, symbolizing unity and shared heritage. Describing the journey as a reflection of India’s deep spiritual roots and collective faith, he emphasized the cultural and religious significance of the Somnath temple.
The Chief Minister highlighted the Somnath shrine as not just a place of worship but a representation of India’s civilizational identity and resilience. Referring to historical contexts, he noted that the temple signifies the restoration of cultural pride and self-respect after challenging periods. Underlining a model of “heritage with development” led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he emphasized the simultaneous progress in infrastructure and promotion of Sanatan cultural values.
Chief Minister Yadav pointed out the cultural revival visible nationwide, citing examples from Gangotri to Ganga Sagar. He also mentioned the state government’s efforts in developing pilgrimage sites and enhancing connectivity through initiatives like helicopter services. Drawing attention to the transformation of the Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga area, he highlighted the economic and tourism benefits brought about by increased visitor numbers.
Emphasizing the economic opportunities and cultural exchanges facilitated by such developments, the Chief Minister stressed the role of pilgrimage in strengthening national unity. He encouraged devotees to seek blessings for global peace and harmony, viewing life as a journey to be utilized for the welfare of others.
