The state government of Madhya Pradesh has extended the wheat procurement window for farmers, allowing them to book slots and sell their produce until May 23, which is an extension from the previous deadline of May 9. This decision aims to facilitate more farmers in selling their wheat without facing delays or overcrowding at procurement centers. Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced the extension, emphasizing the importance of farmer convenience in the procurement process.
To accommodate the increased demand, the government has raised the daily slot booking capacity for wheat sales at each procurement center from 1,000 quintals to 2,250 quintals. Additionally, the number of weighing scales at each center has been increased to six, with the possibility of further expansion if needed at the district level. These measures are expected to streamline the procurement process, ensuring efficiency and fairness while maximizing the number of farmers benefiting from the system.
Officials have highlighted that the enhanced system is designed to reduce waiting times, expedite weighing and procurement procedures, and ultimately ensure timely payments to farmers for their wheat. By focusing on farmer convenience and operational efficiency, the government aims to prevent bottlenecks in the procurement process and provide farmers with improved opportunities to sell their produce at government-approved rates.
