Madhya Pradesh Minister of State Pratima Bagri has refuted claims regarding her Scheduled Caste (SC) certificate. Bagri stated that she has provided all necessary documents to the state’s high-level caste scrutiny committee, affirming the validity of her caste certificate.
The controversy emerged when Madhya Pradesh Congress SC Department president Pradeep Ahirwar alleged that Bagri misrepresented her caste to obtain an SC certificate. Ahirwar claimed that Bagri belongs to the Bagri Rajput community, not listed as a Scheduled Caste, and accused her of using an invalid caste certificate to win the 2023 Assembly election and subsequently become a minister.
Bagri defended herself by asserting that she appeared before the caste scrutiny committee, submitting extensive evidence, some dating back over 110 years, to support her claim. After a thorough review, the committee found no irregularities and confirmed the authenticity of her caste certificate.
Bagri countered Ahirwar’s accusations, labeling them as politically motivated falsehoods. She emphasized that her caste certificate is genuine, supported by official records, and challenged the misinformation presented by Ahirwar to the media.
