Madhya Pradesh Leader of Opposition Umang Singhar criticized the BJP state government, highlighting the lack of Fire No Objection Certificates in Bhopal. He expressed alarm over the low number of registered hotels and restaurants, questioning the safety of the remaining establishments. Singhar warned of potential tragedies if fire safety measures are not urgently enforced.
Singhar drew parallels with the recent Delhi hotel fire tragedy, emphasizing the need for improved safety standards in Madhya Pradesh. He called out Chief Minister Mohan Yadav to address the safety concerns in the state capital. Singhar demanded thorough inspections and strict actions against non-compliant establishments to prevent a similar disaster in Bhopal.
With a mere 1.1% compliance rate for fire safety clearances and a majority of establishments lacking municipal registration, Singhar urged for immediate corrective actions. He stressed the importance of conducting audits on commercial properties to avert any potential safety hazards in Bhopal.
