The program, led by Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Manohar Lal and attended by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, saw the distribution of sanction letters to more than 42,000 beneficiaries. These letters enable access to financial aid for building or acquiring permanent houses. Furthermore, around 38,000 families from various districts performed Grih Pravesh ceremonies for their new homes.
During the event, Minister Manohar Lal emphasized the significance of each new house, symbolizing dignity, security, and hope for families. He reiterated the government’s commitment to achieving the Housing for All goal under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. Access to permanent housing not only ensures safe living conditions but also enhances access to essential services and livelihood opportunities, the minister highlighted.
Madhya Pradesh has excelled in implementing PMAY-U, with over 10.39 lakh houses sanctioned under PMAY-U and PMAY-U 2.0 in the state. Of these, more than 9.08 lakh houses have already been completed, showcasing the state’s progress. The recent sanctions and house completions signify a step forward in broadening affordable housing coverage. The government’s objective under PMAY-U 2.0 is to aid an additional one crore EWS, LIG, and MIG families in urban India by offering financial support of up to Rs 2.5 lakh for constructing, purchasing, or renting permanent houses.
