Vishvas Kailash Sarang, Minister for Sports and Youth Welfare in Madhya Pradesh, has pledged strong support for the National Rifle Association of India (NRAI)’s talent hunt initiative and the Shooting League of India (SLI). The talent hunt, part of the 75th Anniversary celebrations, aims to introduce 7.5 lakh school and college students to the sport of Shooting. Sarang made these remarks at the opening ceremony of the 24th Kumar Surendra Singh Memorial (KSSM) Shooting competition at the M.P. Shooting Academy in Bhopal.
Sarang also expressed Madhya Pradesh’s commitment to producing the maximum medalists in Shooting for India at the 2036 Olympics, which India is bidding to host. He emphasized the state’s desire to host the Shooting League of India, a world-class competition that would inspire the state’s Shooting talent. Mr. Pawankumar Singh, Secretary General of NRAI, highlighted the competition’s significance as a platform for emerging Shooting talent and as a tribute to the late Kumar Surendra Singh ji, former NRAI President.
The 24th KSSM competition will take place simultaneously in Bhopal and New Delhi’s Dr. Karni Singh Shooting Range, with Bhopal hosting the Rifle competitions and Delhi the Pistol events. A total of 3800 shooting athletes from 37 units across the country will participate in Bhopal, showcasing their skills in rifle and pistol disciplines.
