Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced a special fortnight from Tuesday to July 6 to honor Bharatiya Jana Sangh founder Syama Prasad Mookerjee. Mookerjee, known for his dedication to national unity, was born on July 6, 1901, and sacrificed his life on June 23, 1953, opposing Jammu and Kashmir’s special status. Chief Minister Yadav urged municipal bodies to conduct public service campaigns, youth engagement activities, and name public places after Mookerjee during this period.
The Chief Minister emphasized Mookerjee’s role as an educator, thinker, and politician who prioritized national interests over party politics. He instructed civic bodies to organize various events like tree plantations, cleanliness drives, and health camps to honor Mookerjee’s legacy. The fortnight aims to instill Mookerjee’s nationalist ideals in the youth and promote leadership, education, and social responsibility among them.
Madhya Pradesh is gearing up for a fortnight of events to celebrate the life and contributions of Syama Prasad Mookerjee. The program, focusing on service, good governance, and nation-building, will witness active participation from departments and local bodies to pay homage to the revered leader.
