Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis expressed his commitment to elevate the esteemed Marathi language to a language of knowledge, aiming to pass on its rich legacy to future generations. He highlighted the significance of languages recognized for knowledge, emphasizing their role in global advancement and economic growth. Fadnavis praised Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj for his efforts in refining Marathi during a time when it was influenced by Persian and Arabic, marking the language’s journey towards excellence.

Fadnavis acknowledged the historical significance of Marathi, citing its deep-rooted presence in ancient scriptures and its contribution to literary and artistic creations in Maharashtra. He credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi for granting Marathi the status of a Classical language, a move that will enhance its prestige and visibility. Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde echoed this sentiment, emphasizing the importance of integrating Marathi across various professional domains and promoting its global recognition.

Sunetra Pawar, another Deputy Chief Minister, emphasized the need for leveraging digital platforms to propagate Marathi’s cultural heritage effectively to future generations. She highlighted initiatives such as allocating funds for a Maharashtra Bhavan in London and increasing grants for public libraries to foster the language’s growth. Legislative Assembly Speaker Rahul Narwekar stressed the importance of technological advancements and research in Marathi to enhance its status as a language of knowledge. He underscored the collective responsibility of preserving Marathi’s rich heritage for the benefit of upcoming generations.
