In a strong critique of the BJP-led government, Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not met with Ladakh activist Sonam Wangchuk, who is on a hunger strike for 20 days protesting the NEET paper leak. Sapkal demanded the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, emphasizing the seriousness of the issue affecting millions of students.
Sapkal highlighted the government’s silence on Wangchuk’s protest and criticized attempts to link the Congress to deflect blame. He mentioned Rahul Gandhi’s campaign ‘Chhatron Ki Goonj’ aimed at pressuring the Education Minister to step down in response to the student crisis. Additionally, he criticized the Shiv Sena-UBT for inviting Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat to a religious event, questioning the ruling alliance’s integrity.
Accusing the BJP and RSS of involvement in the Ayodhya temple theft, Sapkal challenged the government’s handling of the investigation, calling the Special Investigation Team a puppet. He urged the Chief Minister and RSS Chief to attend an event hosted by Uddhav Thackeray to prove their courage. Regarding rumors of internal discord in the NCP, Sapkal downplayed the speculations, citing official statements from party leaders clarifying the situation.
