The main suspect in the Rajasan double murder case in Bihar’s Vaishali district was injured in a police encounter after opening fire on officers trying to arrest him. Jagdish Rai, the prime accused in the killing of two relatives in Rajasan village, sustained gunshot wounds to both legs during the exchange. He is currently receiving treatment at Sadar Hospital, Hajipur.
Police received information that Jagdish Rai was hiding in a mango farm at Dilawarpur East in the Bidupur area. Acting on this tip-off, a police team surrounded the location, leading to an exchange of fire when the suspect realized he was cornered. During the confrontation, Jagdish Rai suffered two bullet injuries, while two bullets hit the police vehicle, with no officers injured.
The incident is linked to a double murder in Rajasan village, stemming from a long-standing dispute over land ownership and a pathway. Allegedly, Jagdish Rai and his father Murli Rai shot dead Munarik Rai, his uncle, and Jitendra Kumar, an Army soldier and his cousin. Following the murders, a search operation was launched by the police under the supervision of Vaishali Superintendent of Police Shubhank Mishra and SDPO Subodh Kumar.
Jagdish Rai, who has a criminal history with multiple serious cases, including murder, is being questioned by investigators to determine if others were involved in the double murder. Additional police personnel have been deployed in the area as a precautionary measure, and authorities confirm that the law-and-order situation is under control.
