A significant fire erupted at a tyre rubber processing factory in Ghaziabad’s Sahibabad area, quickly drawing the fire department’s response. The blaze, which started around 7:30 a.m., was contained after an hour of firefighting, with no casualties reported. Chief Fire Officer Rahul Pal mentioned that the fire engulfed the factory where tyre rubber processing was ongoing, necessitating the deployment of additional firefighting units.
Authorities dispatched a total of four fire tenders to combat the blaze and prevent its spread to nearby industrial units. After nearly an hour of operations, firefighters successfully brought the situation under control. While an assessment of the damage is underway, the cause of the fire remains under investigation, and fortunately, no injuries or loss of life were recorded.
The incident occurred amidst increased attention to fire safety in Ghaziabad, with recent actions taken against hotels and guest houses for non-compliance with fire safety regulations. Following inspections that revealed deficiencies in fire safety compliance, notices were issued to 10 establishments. CFO Rahul Pal emphasized the ongoing inspections of various establishments to ensure adherence to fire safety norms.
In response to directions from the state fire directorate after a tragic fire in Delhi, where 22 lives were lost, the fire department intensified its scrutiny. Notably, a previous fire incident in April in a residential housing society in Ghaziabad, originating from a ninth-floor flat under construction, was successfully controlled with no reported injuries.
