In a significant operation, the Economic Offences Unit (EOU) and the Patna STF simultaneously conducted raids in Patna and Nalanda districts. The crackdown targeted properties associated with alleged land mafia figure Sanjay Kumar, also known as Santosh Don, and his associates. The raids covered nearly 25 locations across the two districts, with heavy police presence and assistance from the Nalanda police.
Investigators searched various premises linked to Sanjay Kumar alias Santosh Don, including his residence in Pachrukhia. Additionally, raids were carried out at properties in Jagmalbigha, Mustafapur, and Chauda villages. Simultaneously, searches were conducted at the residence of Nitish Kumar in Pachasa village and at the homes of road contractors Rajendra Yadav and Kanhaiya Yadav in Khidarchak village. Notably, Kanhaiya Yadav and his brother were absent during the raids.
During the operation, a Scorpio vehicle, along with crucial documents and certificates, was seized by the investigating team. Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal, DSP (Sadar) Biharsarif, Nalanda, confirmed the ongoing raids and highlighted the support provided by the Nalanda police to the EOU and STF teams. Family members of the individuals under investigation refuted any involvement in illegal activities, emphasizing their engagement in road construction and plantation contracts only.
Authorities acted on intelligence inputs suggesting the accused’s alleged connections to a syndicate involved in illegal land transactions and arms smuggling. The seized documents and materials are now under scrutiny to uncover financial links, property records, and potential criminal networks. As a precautionary measure, a strong police presence remains in the affected areas while investigators delve into all aspects of the suspected racket.
