Rumors are circulating in the film industry that the creators of director Sudha Kongara’s highly anticipated period movie, ‘Parasakthi’, starring actors Sivakarthikeyan, Ravi Mohan, Atharvaa, and Sreeleela, are contemplating seeking the Central Board of Film Certification’s Revising Committee’s intervention. This decision follows the Censor Board’s purported recommendation for significant edits in the film, particularly in scenes related to the anti-Hindi agitation.
Allegedly, the Censor Board’s suggestions regarding the anti-Hindi protest scenes prompted the filmmakers, who were dissatisfied with the proposals, to consider approaching the Revising Committee. However, there has been no official confirmation of this development.
Recently, the film’s producers had announced a change in the release date, moving it up to January 10 next year from the original plan of January 14, coinciding with the Pongal festival.
Dawn Pictures, the production company behind ‘Parasakthi’, disclosed through their social media platforms that the film’s release date had been advanced to January 10, 2026. This decision was made after extensive consultations and requests from global exhibitors and distributors, who have shown strong belief in the movie’s box office potential during this period.
The movie has generated significant anticipation among both fans and cinephiles. Sivakarthikeyan had commenced dubbing for the film towards the end of November, adding to the excitement surrounding the project.
‘Parasakthi’ is set in the 1960s in the erstwhile state of Madras, as indicated by a teaser released by the production team. The teaser hints at a storyline unfolding at Pachaiyappa’s College in Madras, portraying Sivakarthikeyan as a bold leader rallying students for a protest against an oppressive system that enforces unjust rules.
The teaser also reveals a conflict between the characters played by Ravi Mohan and Sivakarthikeyan, hinting at intense confrontations in the narrative.
Referred to tentatively as #SK25, marking Sivakarthikeyan’s 25th film, ‘Parasakthi’ boasts music by G V Prakash and cinematography by the seasoned Ravi K Chandran, with stunts choreographed by Supreme Sundar.
