West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee responded to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s criticism regarding the venue change for President Droupadi Murmu’s event. Banerjee stated that her administration did not have any protocol lapses during the President’s visit to the state. She accused the BJP of using the President’s office for its party agenda, emphasizing that the district administration had raised concerns about the event’s organization.
Banerjee clarified that the President’s Secretariat was informed about the inadequate preparations for the event, but the program proceeded as planned. She highlighted that the President was received and seen off by local officials, not by her or her cabinet members. Banerjee shared letters and photos to support her statements, asserting that the district administration did not breach any protocols.
In response to Modi’s criticism of the Trinamool Congress government, Banerjee defended her administration, stating that the BJP was disrespecting the country’s highest office for political gains. She expressed disappointment over the situation and accused the BJP of misusing power. Banerjee’s remarks came after Modi condemned the alleged disrespect shown to the President during her visit to West Bengal.
