Malayalam superstar Mammootty and Minister of State for Tourism & Petroleum, Suresh Gopi, have shared their sorrow over the tragic explosion at a firecracker facility in Thrissur. Mammootty conveyed his shock and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families, expressing prayers for the swift recovery of the injured. Similarly, Suresh Gopi expressed deep pain and sympathy for the victims and their families affected by the devastating incident.
The explosion, which occurred during preparations for the Thrissur Pooram festival, resulted in the loss of at least 13 lives and left numerous others wounded. The incident took place at a fireworks unit in Mundathikode, Thrissur, causing a massive fire and spreading panic among workers and residents in the vicinity. Prime Minister Narendra Modi also shared his condolences, describing the event as profoundly tragic and expressing anguish over the significant loss of life.
In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Modi announced financial assistance of Rs 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund for the families of each deceased victim, with Rs 50,000 allocated for the injured individuals. The explosion has cast a shadow over the upcoming Thrissur Pooram festivities, a renowned temple celebration in India.
