The Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Branch apprehended a 40-year-old man for sending a threatening email mentioning bomb blasts at the GUJSAIL facility and various schools in Ahmedabad. The email, received on the Director of GUJSAIL’s official account on March 25, contained alarming references to explosions and political figures, causing immediate concern. It stated in Hindi about bomb blasts in schools and demanded the release of an individual named Saurab Biswas.
A case was registered following a complaint by a GUJSAIL employee, leading to an investigation under Police Commissioner G.S. Malik’s directives. The email, traced to bh*********@***il.com, was linked to Bhavesh Patel, a resident of Ahmedabad’s Sardarnagar area. Patel, educated up to B.Com level, was found with incriminating evidence on his mobile phone and in deleted folders, prompting his arrest and further interrogation.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Lavina Sinha mentioned that extensive digital investigations were conducted by the cyber crime unit to track Patel. Authorities are probing the motive behind the offense, potential accomplices, and any ties to terrorist groups. Precautionary security measures were implemented at sensitive locations in response to the threats mentioned in the email, emphasizing strict action against such digital threats.
