Police in Karnataka’s Davangere District, along with intelligence officials, have apprehended a man with ties to Pakistan over suspicions of engaging in terror-related actions. The individual, identified as Suhail from Uttar Pradesh, had recently come to Harihar taluk in Davangere for painting work and was residing in a village under the Harihar Rural Police Station’s jurisdiction. Initial investigations revealed potential evidence of terrorist activities on his WhatsApp account, although specific details about the content or connections have not been disclosed.
Authorities took action based on precise information and in collaboration with directives from the National Investigation Agency (NIA), resulting in the arrest following a search operation. Further inquiries are ongoing to ascertain the extent of his alleged affiliations and any potential operational links with organized networks. The presence of any incriminating materials during the search has not been confirmed by officials yet. The case is currently under scrutiny, with additional information anticipated as the investigation progresses.
Earlier this month, the NIA conducted searches in Punjab and Haryana related to three cases involving a terror-gangster network associated with Pakistan-based terrorist Shahzad Bhatti. Coordinated searches were carried out at 18 locations across nine districts in the two states, leading to the seizure of digital devices, documents, and communication network-related data. The collected information is undergoing forensic and technical examination to unravel the broader cross-border conspiracy. Notices have been issued to certain individuals for further investigation as part of the NIA’s probe into the alleged conspiracy orchestrated by Bhatti. The recent searches aimed to identify Bhatti’s associates and other individuals involved in the terror conspiracy across all three cases.
