A man tragically passed away after getting stuck in an elevator at the state-run R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. The incident occurred while the deceased, identified as Arup Bandopadhyay from Dum Dum, was trying to reach the trauma care center on the fifth floor of the hospital building. His relatives and friends were protesting on-site at the time of the incident.
The deceased was reportedly trapped in the elevator for over an hour as it got stuck midway with no elevator operator present. Despite the desperate situation, no hospital staff responded to reactivate the elevator, leading to the unfortunate outcome.
