A 55-year-old man tragically passed away when the battery of his electric scooter exploded while charging at his home in Narnaul, Haryana. The incident occurred on Monday night, causing a massive fire that extensively damaged his house and belongings.
The deceased, identified as Shiv Kumar from Barkoda village, resided in Ramnagar Colony. He was a laborer from the Bawaria community and left behind two daughters and a son, all of whom are married. One daughter holds a Group D government job.
Shiv Kumar was alone in a room sleeping while his electric scooter charged inside the house, with other family members in a separate room. The scooter’s battery exploded around 9.30 p.m., leading to a fire that quickly engulfed the house. Neighbors alerted authorities, and firefighters managed to control the blaze after about 30 minutes.
Rescued in critical condition, Shiv Kumar was rushed to the civil hospital but was pronounced dead by doctors. The fire caused significant destruction to the house, including furniture, doors, windows, and other household items.
Preliminary details indicate that the electric scooter, a Toxmo Rhino Plus model purchased a year ago from Naseebpur, was involved in the incident. The scooter, a low-speed vehicle not requiring registration or a license, had a maximum speed of 25 km per hour and was regularly charged at night. Authorities are investigating the cause of the explosion.
