A man was fatally stabbed by three bike-borne attackers in Odisha’s Sundargarh district. The incident took place in the Talsara police station area during the night between Sunday and Monday. The victim, Shivdhan Lohar, along with his friend Anmol Mallik, had brought a patient to the Government Medical College and Hospital in Sundargarh before the attack.
The attackers pursued Anmol and Shivdhan in their vehicles, a Scorpio SUV and a Maruti Alto, respectively. The assailants managed to intercept Shivdhan’s car near Talsara, where they assaulted him with a knife, stole his belongings, and later fatally stabbed him near the Duduka railway overbridge.
During an attempt to flee in the victim’s Alto car, the assailants met with an accident near Khamarbahal, resulting in the death of one of the attackers, Suvendu Sekhar Majhi. Another injured assailant, Bhumeswar Behera, was taken to a hospital in Rourkela, while a juvenile suspect with minor injuries was apprehended. The police recovered the weapon used in the crime and the looted Alto Car.
