Manchester City secured their spot in the Carabao Cup final, their 10th appearance, by defeating Newcastle United 5-1 on aggregate. City, already leading 2-0 from the first leg, extended their advantage early in the return match with goals from Omar Marmoush and Tijjani Reijnders.
Marmoush netted a brace while Reijnders added a third, propelling City to a commanding 3-0 lead within 32 minutes at the Etihad Stadium. Despite a consolation goal from Newcastle, City sealed a comprehensive 5-1 victory over the two legs.
The match saw Marmoush capitalizing on defensive errors, with his deflected effort finding the net. Both teams had chances, but City’s goalkeeper, James Trafford, made crucial saves to maintain City’s lead. Marmoush scored his second goal with a header, and Reijnders capitalized on a loose ball to secure City’s win before halftime.
Newcastle improved in the second half, with Anthony Elanga scoring a stunning goal. Despite a disallowed goal for Newcastle, City managed the game professionally to secure their place in the final. Manchester City will face Arsenal in the final at Wembley on March 22.
