Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh highlighted the significance of inclusive growth for the progress and prosperity of Manipur’s 36 communities in both hill and valley regions. He stressed that lasting peace, unity, and development hinge on empowering every community equally through government initiatives. Singh, addressing post-matric scholarship (ST) student beneficiaries, called for balanced development across the state to ensure the advancement of all communities.
Highlighting the necessity of a peaceful environment for development, Singh noted the adverse impact of ethnic unrest on students and daily wage earners. He urged for peace through dialogue as the sole solution and encouraged students to foster harmony among communities. The Chief Minister’s remarks were made during a special interactive session organized by the Department of Tribal Affairs and Hills under Janjatiya Garima Utsav 2026 in Imphal.
Singh underscored the aim of the Post-Matric Scholarship scheme to promote equality and uplift all communities, honoring the contributions of tribal leader Birsa Munda. Expressing concern over scholarship payment delays, he assured that funds had been disbursed, with some delays attributed to Aadhaar and bank account linkage issues. The Chief Minister directed officials to promptly resolve such issues to ensure timely benefits for students.
Education’s pivotal role in shaping young people’s future was emphasized by Singh, who reaffirmed the government’s commitment to addressing students’ genuine challenges and ensuring welfare schemes reach the intended recipients. Deputy Chief Minister Nemcha Kipgen, speaking via video conferencing, lauded the program’s focus on empowering tribal youth through education and commended the Chief Minister’s engagement in facilitating dialogue between students and the government.
