Manipur Chief Minister Yumnam Khemchand Singh emphasized the importance of unity and collective progress in light of the ongoing ethnic crisis in the state. Addressing the audience at the inauguration of the “Multipurpose Indoor Hall” under the Khelo India scheme at Charoipung Playground in Mayang-Imphal, Singh called for leaving behind past differences to focus on development and peace.
Singh extended financial aid of Rs 1 lakh to a member of an Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) family facing health challenges due to the ethnic violence. The IDP family, currently residing at Pravabati College relief camp in Mayang, Imphal, received the assistance from the Chief Minister.
During his visit to Charoipung Playground, Singh inaugurated the newly constructed “Multipurpose Indoor Hall” and motivated young players from the Mayang-Imphal constituency. He highlighted the significance of sports in Manipur and assured the construction of a football turf and hostels for players, emphasizing the government’s support for sports development.
Singh interacted with IDP representatives and college student union members at Pravabati College fitness center, emphasizing the need for collective efforts towards progress. He also recognized the achievements of players and coaches, distributed commendation certificates, and announced the opening of the indoor stadium for public use.
