Veteran bowler Marizanne Kapp impressed with three wickets, helping Delhi Capitals limit UP Warriorz to 122/8 in the Women’s Premier League match at BCA Stadium, Kotambi. UPW struggled to build momentum, with Shikha Pandey’s 23 off 13 balls being a lone bright spot in their lackluster innings. Delhi’s disciplined bowling, led by Kapp, Chinelle Henry, and Sree Charani, stifled UPW’s scoring and prevented substantial partnerships.

DC’s strong start saw Chinelle Henry dismissing UP Warriorz skipper Meg Lanning for a duck in the very first ball. Despite some boundaries from Deepti Sharma and Charli Knott, Marizanne’s accuracy led to crucial breakthroughs. UPW faced further setbacks as wickets fell at regular intervals, with Charani and Marizanne making impactful contributions.

UP Warriorz attempted a late fightback through Simran Shaikh and Shikha Pandey’s aggressive strokes, but Delhi’s bowlers maintained control. Asha Sobhana’s brief cameo and Pandey’s late flourish were not enough as DC held the advantage going into the second innings. Delhi Capitals need 123 to secure a playoff spot, with UPW and Mumbai Indians facing elimination.
