At least 10 individuals, including the shooter, have lost their lives, and several others have been injured in a mass shooting in British Columbia, Canada. The tragic incident took place at a school in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia, with six fatalities discovered within the high school premises. One person passed away en route to the hospital, and the suspect was found deceased due to a self-inflicted injury, as reported by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and CBC.

Moreover, two more individuals were found deceased at a related residence, as per police assessments. All the wounded individuals have received initial medical assistance and have been transferred to the hospital for further care. MLA Larry Neufeld expressed his sympathy for the affected individuals, acknowledging the distressing event at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School.

Neufeld, in a statement, mentioned the police’s confirmation of multiple victims and the conclusion of the active shooter alert, although the investigation is ongoing. He commended the prompt and professional responses of first responders, school staff, and local authorities during the challenging circumstances. Neufeld extended his thoughts to the students, families, educators, and the entire Tumbler Ridge community, emphasizing the town’s close-knit nature and the widespread impact of such incidents.

Additionally, Neufeld emphasized the importance of allowing law enforcement the necessary time to complete their inquiries and verify details out of respect for those impacted. He encouraged residents struggling in the aftermath to reach out for support and urged patience from the public to facilitate the police investigation process. The authorities have refrained from disclosing the shooter’s details, citing an ongoing investigation into the shooting’s motives. Further updates on the case are anticipated.
