Leaders of the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD), currently under BJP rule, have pledged to take strict action following the Malviya Nagar fire incident that resulted in 21 fatalities. MCD’s Standing Committee Chairperson, Satya Sharma, emphasized that action would be initiated within a week of the investigation report.

Satya Sharma stated, “When the investigation report is received, we will act promptly within a week. Stringent measures will be implemented.” She further added, “We have witnessed numerous burn victims on the ground, all hospitalized. Preventing such incidents in the future is our priority. Further decisions will be made post-investigation.”

Echoing this sentiment, MCD’s Leader of the House, Jay Bhagwan Yadav, emphasized the need for severe consequences for those responsible. He mentioned, “Twenty-one lives have been lost. Anyone accountable will face repercussions. The government is committed to taking decisive action against the culprits.”

Mayor Pravesh Wahi expressed sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the fire incident. He conveyed, “My deepest sympathies go out to the families of the deceased, and I wish a speedy recovery to the injured.” However, Wahi highlighted that the cause of the fire is yet to be determined.

Wahi mentioned, “An investigation is ongoing, and we are providing all possible support. The Prime Minister has announced compensation for the victims. We have issued strict directives against any negligence.” He also assured that officials would conduct a thorough inspection to prevent such incidents in the future.

Delhi Police confirmed that among the 21 casualties in the Malviya Nagar blaze, 17 were foreign nationals.
