Actress Meenakshi Seshadri has ventured into singing by revisiting memories of her 1985 film “Lover Boy,” which has crossed over four decades since its release. To celebrate this milestone, she has remixed the movie’s romantic title track in her own voice, presenting it as a special Christmas and New Year gift to her fans and friends.
Meenakshi shared a video on Instagram where she is seen dancing to the title track of “Lover Boy,” which she has sung herself. She expressed her admiration for the film’s title track, known for its romantic essence and beautiful lyrics, stating, “My movie ‘Lover Boy’ co-starring Rajiv Kapoor and Anita Raaj was released 30 years back in the month of December. The title track, which is really romantic and lyrically beautiful, has always inspired me.”
“Lover Boy” is a 1985 film directed by Shomu Mukherjee, featuring Rajiv Kapoor in a double role, alongside Meenakshi Sheshadri and Anita Raj. The story revolves around twins Kishan and Kanhaiya, who exchange identities to win over Radha, while facing interference from Bijli, who is in love with Kishan.
Meenakshi Seshadri rose to fame as one of the leading actresses in Hindi cinema during the 1980s and 1990s. Starting her career with the film “Painter Babu” in 1983, she gained immense popularity with her second film “Hero.” Her notable works include movies like “Aandhi-Toofan,” “Meri Jung,” “Swati,” “Dacait,” “Inaam Dus Hazaar,” “Shahenshah,” “Awaargi,” “Ghar Ho To Aisa,” “Damini,” and “Ghatak.” A documentary titled “Meenakshi Accept Her Wings” was made on her life.
Her last appearance was in the 1996 Hindi-language action thriller film “Ghatak: Lethal,” directed by Rajkumar Santoshi, where she starred alongside Sunny Deol, Amrish Puri, and Danny Denzongpa. The film emerged as the highest-grossing Bollywood movie in terms of domestic box office collection that year and the second highest in terms of worldwide earnings.
