Former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti, encouraged the Kashmiri Pandit community to collaborate with local Muslims for mutual respect and progress. In a letter to the president of Kashmiri Pandit Sangarsh Samiti, she highlighted the positive outcomes of sincere dialogues seen in recent engagements with the Government of India by other groups.
Mufti emphasized the need for a collective effort transcending political boundaries to address the challenges faced by Jammu & Kashmir. She stressed the importance of constructive dialogues with the government to restore dignity and security to the region, urging for a unified approach towards engaging with the authorities.
Advocating for unity and setting aside political differences, Mufti called for a joint appeal to the Prime Minister and Home Minister to initiate meaningful and continuous interactions with the people of Jammu & Kashmir. She emphasized the significance of this moment as a shared responsibility towards the welfare and future of the region’s residents.
Mufti reiterated the importance of unity in working towards a peaceful and prosperous Jammu & Kashmir, safeguarding the rights and identities of its people within the constitutional framework. She has consistently advocated for the return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley and promoted harmony between Hindus and Muslims in the region.
