Senior Congress leader Meira Kumar, along with other women leaders, attended the Nari Shakti Vandan Sammelan, advocating for increased female representation in legislative bodies. At the event, Sonia Gandhi criticized the government’s handling of a bill, questioning the sudden change in stance and lack of all-party meetings. Gandhi highlighted the need for consensus-building and expressed concerns over the unilateral decision-making approach of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Prime Minister Modi, addressing women leaders at the Sammelan, acknowledged Meira Kumar’s presence and praised her contributions. Meira Kumar expressed optimism about the eventual implementation of the bill, emphasizing the long-standing struggle for gender equality in politics. Reflecting on her political journey, she highlighted the decades-long effort to achieve greater representation for women in governance.

Meira Kumar, a former Lok Sabha Speaker and Congress leader, emphasized the significance of the bill’s implementation in fulfilling the ongoing struggle for gender parity in legislative bodies. She recounted her experience in advocating for women’s rights over the past 30 years, underscoring the importance of achieving equal representation in political decision-making.
