Mild tremors were reported in Maharashtra’s Hingoli, Nanded, and Parbhani districts early Thursday morning. The tremors, measuring 4.6, 3.6, and 3.9 on the Richter scale, originated near Shirli village in Hingoli district. Fortunately, there have been no casualties or property damage reported.
The seismic activity occurred during the night, prompting authorities to warn of potential further tremors. While it’s impossible to predict earthquakes, residents have been advised to stay calm and vigilant. District Collector Rahul Kardile urged people to seek open spaces if they feel additional tremors.
Emergency response teams, fire services, and medical units in the affected districts are on high alert as a precautionary measure. They are prepared to address any aftershocks or emergencies that may arise. Meanwhile, the weather forecast indicates a decrease in rainfall activity in parts of Maharashtra starting July 9.
The India Meteorological Department has issued alerts for heavy rainfall in various districts. Nashik, Palghar, Raigad, Pune, and Satara are under a red alert for extremely heavy rainfall. Mumbai suburbs and Thane have an orange alert for very heavy rainfall, while other areas like Dhule, Nandurbar, and Kolhapur are under a yellow alert for thunderstorms and heavy rainfall.
