Cultural Affairs Minister Saji Cherian criticized the teaser of The Kerala Story 2, accusing its creators of trying to sow communal discord and undermine Kerala’s secular values. He emphasized the state’s united stance against such divisive tactics. The Minister condemned the film, labeling it as a deliberate attempt to polarize communities and distort Kerala’s secular identity.
In a statement following the release of the controversial film’s teaser, Saji Cherian, also the Minister for Films, denounced it as a propaganda tool disconnected from reality. He accused the filmmakers of fabricating false narratives for political gains, alleging it to be a part of a larger agenda to portray Kerala negatively. The Minister criticized the film for perpetuating discredited notions like “love jihad” and using inflammatory language to disrupt Kerala’s social harmony.
Describing the movie as a product of misinformation, Saji Cherian pointed out its aim to instill fear and division among communities. He stressed that freedom of expression should not be misused to sow discord and that many claims made in the film had already been debunked by authorities. The Minister asserted that Kerala has historically stood against communalism and would continue to do so, resisting attempts to spread hatred for political motives.
