Minister of State for External Affairs, Kirti Vardhan Singh, held a meeting with an African Union (AU) Commission delegation led by Willy Nyamitwe, Chairperson of AU Permanent Representative Committee and Ambassador of Burundi in New Delhi. The discussions focused on enhancing multifaceted ties and preparing for the upcoming fourth India-Africa Forum Summit (IAFS-IV).
India is set to host the IAFS-IV in collaboration with the African Union Commission on May 31 in New Delhi. The summit aims to bolster the enduring India-Africa partnership by bringing together leaders from the African continent, the African Union Commission, and representatives from regional organizations to chart a course for expanded cooperation across various sectors.
Under the theme “IA SPIRIT: India Africa Strategic Partnership for Innovation, Resilience, and Inclusive Transformation,” the summit will highlight the comprehensive nature of the India-Africa partnership. Preparatory meetings leading up to the summit include the India-Africa Foreign Ministers’ Meeting on May 29 and the Senior Officials Meeting on May 28, focusing on key areas of cooperation between India and Africa.
The India-Africa Forum Summit serves as a crucial platform for dialogue with African countries and the AU Commission, fostering mutually beneficial collaboration guided by principles of mutual respect, equality, solidarity, and shared prosperity. The upcoming summit is poised to further strengthen the close ties of friendship and cooperation between India and Africa, showcasing governance and inclusive development initiatives developed over the past decade.
