Minister of State for Defence, Sanjay Seth, is set to participate in the fifth edition of the Goa Maritime Conclave (GMC-26) on February 21. The event will bring together maritime security experts from the Indian Ocean Region to discuss solutions to current challenges. Chiefs of Navies and senior representatives from 14 nations will convene at the Naval War College in Goa, with the theme focusing on addressing common maritime security challenges in the Indian Ocean Region.

Admiral Dinesh K. Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff, will host the event, which aims to tackle dynamic threats like Illegal, Unregulated and Unreported (IUU) fishing and other illegal maritime activities. The conclave underscores the importance of cooperation and coordination among maritime nations in the region. Participating countries include Bangladesh, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, and others, with discussions centered on enhancing maritime information exchange and strengthening capabilities.

Eminent speakers and subject-matter experts will lead discussions on collaborative efforts to address maritime challenges. The keynote address will be delivered by Admiral Arun Prakash (Retd). The Goa Maritime Conclave serves as a platform for India and key maritime nations to work together on maritime security solutions. Established in 2016 and 2017, the Goa Maritime Symposium and Conclave aim to promote mutual understanding and cooperation in line with the vision of MAHASAGAR.

The Indian Ocean Region faces a range of security challenges, from traditional threats like piracy to emerging issues such as cyber threats and climate change. The need for enhanced cooperation among partner countries is crucial to address these multidimensional challenges effectively. The Conclave plays a significant role in shaping collaborative strategies to ensure safe and secure seas in the region.
