The Ministry of Minority Affairs unveiled the Hajj Policy 2027, with Minister Kiren Rijiju releasing the policy and initiating the application process for prospective pilgrims. Applications for Hajj-2027 can now be submitted online through the Hajj Committee of India portal and the Hajj Suvidha App to streamline and simplify the process. The quota distribution between the Committee and the private sector remains at 70:30, with efforts to potentially increase the total quota from the previous year’s 1,75,025 seats.
The announcement follows a recent Hajj Review Meeting chaired by Rijiju, where the outcomes of Hajj-2026 were evaluated, and plans for Hajj-2027 were finalized. The Ministry’s emphasis on early announcements and prompt application openings demonstrates its dedication to timely preparations in alignment with Saudi Arabia’s timelines. Hajj Policy 2027 builds on the initiatives introduced during Hajj-2026, such as improved on-ground assistance and enhanced facilities for pilgrims.
The policy enhancements include a revised State Hajj Inspector ratio, prioritizing the top 20% of waitlisted applicants from Hajj-2026 to address waiting list concerns fairly. Medical screenings will adhere to Saudi guidelines to ensure the health and safety of pilgrims, with a focus on individuals with chronic medical conditions. The Ministry is also implementing AI interventions to enhance pilgrim management, aiming to provide comprehensive support and guidance throughout the pilgrimage process.
Minister Rijiju encouraged eligible pilgrims to apply within the specified timelines, underscoring the government’s commitment to a secure, transparent, and dignified Hajj experience for all Indian pilgrims. The new policy emphasizes comfort, safety, transparency, and dignity for every pilgrim, with a focus on technological advancements and improved services to facilitate a seamless and pilgrim-centric pilgrimage experience.
