A tragic incident occurred in Bhubaneswar as a minor student fell from the 10th floor of a residential apartment in the Niladri Vihar area. The student, identified as Rafan Khurshid, was a Class XI student and a classmate of a girl at a local English-medium school. Residents and security personnel rushed to the scene upon hearing a loud noise and found the minor critically injured.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Jagmohan Meena stated that the youth was hiding in his alleged girlfriend’s flat adjacent to the bathroom when the incident happened. The deceased’s alleged girlfriend was alone in the flat when her friend visited during the day. The deceased minor panicked and hid inside the bathroom when the girl’s mother unexpectedly returned home.
During the investigation, it was discovered that the deceased had hidden near the duct pipe adjacent to the bathroom. His school bag was found hanging from the pipes on the ninth floor of the building. The DCP suspects that in a state of panic, the student lost his balance, fell from the building, and tragically died.
The DCP attributed the unfortunate incident to an adolescent love affair and sudden panic. Family members of the deceased have been notified about the incident.
