This victory marks Andreeva’s 32nd win of the season and her 18th win on clay. She is set to face Switzerland’s Jil Teichmann next, who achieved a significant upset over Karolina Muchova.
Andreeva, who reached the semifinals in the 2024 French Open, secured a 6-4, 6-2 victory against Marie Bouzkova in 1 hour and 35 minutes. This win extended Andreeva’s unbeaten record against Bouzkova to 5-0 on the WTA Tour Driven by Mercedes-Benz, all in straight sets.
With this triumph, Andreeva became the youngest woman to reach the Round of 16 at Roland Garros for three consecutive seasons since Martina Hingis from 1997-99. Additionally, this win marked her 32nd match victory of the season and her 18th clay court win.
Karolina Muchova, a top-10 seeded player, was eliminated from the tournament after being defeated by Jil Teichmann, who came back from a 1-5 deficit in the second set to win 6-1, 7-5 in 1 hour and 52 minutes. Teichmann, ranked No. 170 in the world, secured her ninth top-10 victory with this win.
Wang Xiyu from China also advanced to the last 16 of the women’s singles at the French Open for the first time in her career. She achieved a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Ukraine’s Yuliia Starodubtseva. Wang recovered from a slow start, winning six consecutive games in the first set and maintaining composure to secure the second set and the match.
