In a significant event, Mizoram Governor General Vijay Kumar Singh (Retd) raised a 108-feet-tall National flag at Assam Rifles complex in Zokhawsang, Aizawl. This monumental flag is now the tallest in the state, symbolizing unity and national pride. Governor Singh highlighted the importance of the occasion, especially on Christmas Eve, emphasizing values like harmony and unity among the people.
The Governor commended the Assam Rifles and the Flag Foundation of India for choosing Zokhawsang as the flag’s location. He mentioned that the flag’s prominent position will serve as a constant reminder of national pride, visible from various parts of Aizawl. General Singh stressed the role of the National Flag in uniting citizens and upholding core constitutional values like unity, integrity, and respect for diversity.
Addressing the audience, Home Minister K. Sapdanga emphasized the National Flag’s representation of unity, patriotism, and hope for a brighter future. He underlined the flag’s significance in recalling India’s freedom struggle and fostering deep love for the nation. Major General Ashim Kohli and Naveen Jindal, among other dignitaries, also shared their thoughts during the ceremony.
