Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis highlighted Mumbai’s future role as a global capital gateway, emphasizing Maharashtra’s significance in ensuring global economic stability. Speaking at the Global Economic Cooperation Conference, he stressed the importance of trustworthy partnerships in today’s multipolar world. Fadnavis pointed out that Maharashtra’s economic contributions are substantial, with the state accounting for a significant portion of India’s GDP, foreign investments, industrial production, and port traffic.
Fadnavis underscored the need for a balanced approach to economic sovereignty, focusing on diversified trade, production capacity, energy security, and technological capabilities. He mentioned Maharashtra’s strategic autonomy and cooperative engagement as key principles guiding the state’s economic strategies. Looking ahead, he envisioned Maharashtra playing a crucial role in the future corridor-based global order, with Mumbai leading in transparency, regulation, and economic effectiveness.
The Chief Minister emphasized Mumbai’s historical significance in maritime trade and entrepreneurship, envisioning the city as a cornerstone for building a stable and inclusive economic system. He viewed the multipolar world as an opportunity for Maharashtra to leverage its strengths effectively. Fadnavis highlighted the importance of artificial intelligence, data governance, and skilled human resources in shaping the future, noting Maharashtra’s initiatives in setting up AI parks, data centers, and skill universities.
Fadnavis outlined Maharashtra’s commitment to sustainable development, particularly in green energy and urban infrastructure. He mentioned investments in green hydrogen, solar and wind energy, and green mobility as part of the state’s efforts towards environmental sustainability. Mumbai’s strategic location and connectivity were emphasized, with Fadnavis pointing out its role in emerging maritime frameworks and supply chains in the Indo-Pacific region.
