The Municipal Corporation of Korba has taken prompt action after the heartbreaking death of five-year-old Prakash Patel, who was viciously attacked by stray dogs in the Dadar area. Municipal Commissioner Ashutosh Pandey and his team visited the site to assess the situation and offer support to the grieving family. The incident has stirred widespread outrage among residents of the area.
A five-year-old boy, Prakash Patel, was fatally attacked by a group of five to six stray dogs in the Dadar area of Korba. The young student, son of laborer Kishore Patel from Janjgir district, was returning home when the dogs pounced on him around 4 p.m. Despite his father’s frantic attempts to save him, Prakash sustained severe injuries and tragically passed away upon reaching the hospital, leaving the community in shock and anger.
In response to the tragedy, the Municipal Corporation, under the Mayor’s directives, has announced immediate financial aid of Rs 1 lakh to Prakash’s family. Commissioner Pandey emphasized that this assistance aims to support the grieving family during this challenging period and shed light on the escalating issue of stray dogs in the city. Commissioner Pandey engaged in detailed discussions with local residents and law enforcement officials during his visit and promptly ordered a special operation to capture stray dogs in the area.
Municipal teams swiftly took action in Dadar and nearby regions, capturing around 15 to 20 dogs, which were then relocated to the corporation’s designated shelter for sterilization. Describing the child’s demise as profoundly tragic, Commissioner Pandey assured that the administration would diligently work to prevent such heart-wrenching incidents in the future. He highlighted the ongoing efforts of the Municipal Corporation in controlling the stray dog population through special drives and sterilization programs.
Over recent months, the corporation has sterilized over 1,000 dogs at its facility, with plans to intensify these initiatives further. The unfortunate incident occurred as little Prakash was returning home after meeting his father, Kishore Patel, a daily wage laborer residing in the Dadar area with his family. The incident has sparked public fury over the uncontrolled increase of stray dogs in the Dadar locality.
