Myanmar President U Min Aung Hlaing is set to visit India from May 30 to June 3 at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Starting his trip from Bodh Gaya, he will engage in discussions with PM Modi on June 1 to enhance bilateral relations, marking his first visit to India since taking office. Additionally, President U Min Aung Hlaing will partake in a business forum in India alongside a delegation of cabinet ministers, officials, and business leaders.
President U Min Aung Hlaing’s itinerary includes a visit to Mumbai on June 2 for business engagements and site visits. The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that Myanmar’s strategic location aligns with India’s regional policies, anticipating that the visit will bolster the comprehensive ties between the two nations. The visit follows a similar trip by Vietnamese President To Lam, who also commenced his India visit from Bodh Gaya earlier this month.
Union Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh recently visited Myanmar to attend President U Min Aung Hlaing’s swearing-in ceremony. During the meeting, Singh conveyed PM Modi’s felicitations and reiterated India’s commitment to reinforcing bilateral cooperation under the ‘Neighbourhood First,’ ‘Act East,’ and ‘MAHASAGAR’ policies. India aims to provide developmental support to Myanmar for the mutual benefit of both nations.
