Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio and Deputy Chief Minister Yanthungo Patton expressed their approval of Nand Kishore Yadav’s appointment as the new Governor of Nagaland. The announcement was made by President Droupadi Murmu, who reshuffled Governors and Lieutenant Governors in various states and Union Territories. Former Bihar Minister Nand Kishore Yadav will now serve as the Governor of Nagaland.
Chief Minister Rio conveyed his congratulations to Yadav on social media, emphasizing the state’s anticipation of collaborating for its welfare and progress. Deputy Chief Minister Patton also extended his best wishes to the new Governor, highlighting Yadav’s extensive public service experience and expressing confidence in his leadership for the state’s development and prosperity.
Yadav’s appointment follows the tenure of Ajay Kumar Bhalla, who had been overseeing the gubernatorial responsibilities of Nagaland alongside Manipur since August 25 last year. Bhalla assumed the additional charge of Nagaland following the passing of former Nagaland Governor La. Ganesan in August 2021.
Seventy-three-year-old Nand Kishore Yadav, a seasoned political figure, has a long history of service within the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh and the Bharatiya Janata Party. He has held significant roles in the Bihar government, including serving as the Leader of the Opposition and later as the Speaker of the Bihar Assembly.
