Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Joram Aniya as a full-time member of NITI Aayog, marking a significant milestone in national policymaking. Aniya, an accomplished academician and Associate Professor, brings over 18 years of experience in teaching, research, and public policy engagement to this role. She is also a member of the Arunachal Pradesh Private Educational Regulatory Commission.
Aniya, the first woman from the Nyishi community in Arunachal Pradesh to earn a PhD, has made notable contributions to education and knowledge systems in the region. Her scholarly work focuses on literature, culture, and indigenous knowledge systems, with a strong emphasis on Nyishi language and cultural heritage. She has authored several books and research publications in these areas.
In addition to Aniya, R. Balasubramaniam, Member (HR) at the Capacity Building Commission, has been appointed. Balasubramaniam has been actively involved in the Mission Karmayogi initiative, which aims to digitally train India’s civil services. He is known for his work on “Power Within: The Leadership Legacy of Narendra Modi” and his role in developing the Karmayogi Competency Framework for government training institutions.
These appointments follow the recent naming of Ashok Lahiri as Vice-Chairman of NITI Aayog and the induction of two full-time members. Lahiri, a BJP MLA from West Bengal and a renowned economist, succeeded Suman Bery in this role.
