Narmada canal irrigation has significantly benefited agricultural fields in Mehsana district, Gujarat, as highlighted by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel during public meetings. The extension of irrigation water has brought a positive change to a region previously facing groundwater challenges. Patel credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s determination for this achievement, emphasizing the transformation from a dark zone with borewell restrictions to a flourishing agricultural area.
Gujarat’s economic progress was underscored by Patel, noting a substantial increase in the state’s financial allocation from Rs 30,000 crore to Rs four lakh crore over the years. He also mentioned ongoing infrastructure projects like the planned eight-lane road between Mehsana and Adalaj, aimed at enhancing regional development and transportation networks.
In his address, Patel outlined various welfare initiatives for the agriculture sector, including schemes such as soil health cards, micro-irrigation systems, water conservation efforts, the Jyotigram program, livestock health camps, dairy development support, and the Kisan Credit Card scheme. Farmers are now eligible for subsidies up to Rs one lakh for purchasing tractors, further supporting agricultural activities.
Moreover, the government’s “Catch the Rain” campaign, allocating Rs 50 lakh to each Member of the Legislative Assembly, aims to promote rainwater harvesting and groundwater recharge for sustainable water conservation. Patel also highlighted the health sector’s progress, mentioning the Ayushman Bharat cards providing cashless treatment coverage of up to Rs 10 lakh.
Discussing industrial growth, Patel noted a significant rise in the number of micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the state, increasing from 1.83 lakh units to 27 lakh units, thereby contributing to employment generation. He also commended BJP workers for their continuous engagement with the public throughout the year, contrasting it with the sporadic visibility of workers from other parties only during elections.
The Chief Minister concluded by congratulating the unopposed election of 28 members of the Kadi municipality in the local body polls, emphasizing the party’s organizational strength and grassroots presence.
