The National Cadet Corps has initiated its inaugural Basic Paramotors Course for cadets in the Northeast at Panikheti in Guwahati. This marks a significant advancement in aero-adventure training for young individuals. The course, conducted in partnership with the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports, is currently training 50 senior division boy cadets from various northeastern states.
The training program commenced on May 4 and is scheduled to run until May 19. It is being overseen by qualified instructors from the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports. Lieutenant General Virendra Vats, Director General of the National Cadet Corps, visited the National Cadet Corps North Eastern Region Directorate to review the ongoing training activities at the National Institute of Mountaineering and Adventure Sports Paramotors Node in Panikheti.
During his visit, Lieutenant General Virendra Vats interacted with the cadets, observed live paramotor flying demonstrations, and assessed the training infrastructure set up for the course. The training module covers ground handling, motor operations, flight theory, emergency procedures, and supervised solo flying exercises under stringent safety measures. The primary goal of this initiative is to promote aero-adventure sports among National Cadet Corps cadets, fostering confidence, discipline, leadership qualities, and decision-making skills.
Lieutenant General Virendra Vats emphasized that paramotors training not only provides cadets with literal wings but also builds confidence, decision-making abilities, and embodies the ‘Touch the Sky with Glory’ spirit of the National Cadet Corps. He mentioned that similar courses will be arranged in the future for National Cadet Corps cadets nationwide, including female cadets. This inaugural course underscores the National Cadet Corps’ renewed focus on advanced adventure training for youth, aligning with efforts to expose cadets to modern adventure sports and aviation-related disciplines.
The program is anticipated to boost youth involvement from the Northeast in adventure sports while promoting safe flying practices and specialized outdoor training. This initiative represents a significant milestone in the National Cadet Corps’ endeavors to combine physical endurance, technical skills, and leadership development through experiential learning programs.
